The team has established a service for bereaved families, helping them to have a keepsake of the memories they create in hospital.

Paul Canning, Senior Medical Photographer, explained that the team – consisting of four colleagues, Paul, Chimane, Karl and Jodie – also undertakes clinical requests from wards and operating theatres and offers support to clinics across the Trust. He said:

He said: “We are very pleased to be recognised for the work that we do. We’ve been nominated in previous years but have never been a winner and the night of the awards was brilliant.

“We held a watch party and I remember my reaction when I realised we’d won – it was a truly great moment and wonderful to be recognised.”

Presenting a trophy and certificate, Saba Sadiq, the Trust’s Executive Director of Finance, said: “You’re doing such an amazing job. It isn’t just about taking a photograph, there’s the human element that you are so good at and you are definitely unsung heroes.”

In total, 33 teams and individuals were nominated for the award – along with the Medical Photography team, Specialist Podiatrist Katey Reynolds and Nurse Consultant in the Community Frailty Service Sarah Sloan, were shortlisted.

The award was looking for a winner who ‘truly cares about people whether they’re patients, colleagues or visitors.’

The ceremony was watched online by colleagues, family and members of the public. Watch the Medical Photography Team receiving their award
