Blackpool airshow is back this weekend, and the resort is expecting big crowds to descend on the promenade to see the famous Red Arrows. The free two-day show will also feature thrilling displays from a wide range of military and civil aircraft including the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Typhoon, Chinook, Muscle Pitts stunt plane, Strikemaster and the AeroSuperBatics Wingwalkers.

To help people enjoy the event safely we have rounded up some top tips:

  • Drink lots of water
  • Wear appropriate footwear
  • Prepare a small first aid kit
  • Plan your route before travelling.
  • Wear sun cream
  • If you start to feel unwell see the event first aiders first

If you will be watching along the promenade, make sure you follow these tips from HM Coastguard on being Coast Clever:

  • Check the weather forecast and tide times
  • Look for signage to avoid mud
  • If you do get stuck in mud, lean back to spread your weight evenly
  • Take a fully charged mobile with you
  • If you see someone in trouble in the water call 999 and ask for the Coastguard
