Earlier this year, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals neonatal unit received a generous donation of clothing from Tesco in partnership with the Salvation Army. Across England more 23,000 newborns are benefitting from the delivery which contained items such as sleepsuits, hats, and scratch mitts.

Julie Kearney, Matron for the neonatal unit commented, “Thank you to Tesco and the Salvation army for their kind donation of clothes.

Families we support here on the unit are often under extreme stress and being able to provide a small pack for their tiny baby will provide one less worry.

It can be a struggle for families to easily find premature baby clothes and this range is designed for babies who may have additional medical needs.”

Lucy commented, “There was panic in the middle of the night when I realised the clothes that I had already bought were far too big. I was so grateful to be able to use the tiny clothes on the neonatal unit, as I had really limited clothes and baby needed changing! Just being able to access the donated clothes on the unit has been so useful.”
