NGAW24-award-923x1000.jpgEarlier this month, the Good Grief Trust hosted their first National Grief Awareness Awards as part of National Grief Awareness Week which ran from 2-8 December.

The Good Grief Trust is a charity that exists to support anyone in the UK affected by grief and aims to raise awareness of the impact of grief.

The Bereavement team at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals consists of the Swan Team, Trinity Palliative Care, Chaplaincy, Occupational Health, Mortuary, Bereavement and Medical Examiner services.

Together they were represented by Julie Sloman, bereavement officer who accepted a ‘shine a light’ award on behalf of the team for their bereavement support and awareness raising about grief across our local community.

Jackie Brunton, Lead Nurse for End-of-Life Care said, “I am very proud of the way our teams work together to support our community and how the services have continued to develop its links and reach with community groups.

Both Julie and I feel very humbled to have been nominated, we both work alongside the most amazing people all of whom want to ensure everybody had access to bereavement support”.
