Heart Failure Coordinator Gemma Bell won this year's Rising Star award at the Celebrating Success Awards, our annual staff recognition event, for making numerous improvement processes within the team, from reducing waiting times to increasing capacity within the team, overall improving staff morale and patient outcomes.
Her dedication to improving services and providing the very best has driven the team from strength to strength.
Gemma has worked for the Trust for over 10 years now, predominately in Heart Failure acute and community teams and in the Device team. Her knowledge of policies, procedures and pathways and her enthusiasm, passion, and patient centred care have enabled her to progress to secure her new role of Heart Failure service coordinator.
Gemma’s colleagues say they feel “incredibly lucky” to work with Gemma who is well respected not only with her team but also the Consultants and Directorate staff for her knowledge, hard work, drive and professionalism and her desire to ensure the best for patients.
Presenting Gemma with the Rising Star Award, Shelley Wright, Director of Communications said “Gemma is a very worthy winner, this award is extremely well deserved”.
Gemma said “I never expected in a million years to be nominated so to win is just amazing.”
The award recognises colleagues ‘who have recently joined the Trust, changed roles, or gained new skills through further study. It honours individuals who have adapted and excelled in their new duties in delivering people-centred care, whether clinical or non-clinical and who have shown exceptional determination and continuous improvement to make a real difference.’
