The Emergency Department was honoured in the Celebrating Success awards after receiving multiple nominations which recognised them for continuing to work tirelessly to care for patients while the Trust’s emergency village development was underway over the last few years.
The development, which started back in 2019, was completed when the final phase opened in December 2023. The emergency village has streamed processes to ensure patients are seen by the right clinician in the right department sooner and improved our patients’ journey.
Presenting the team’s trophy and certificate recently, Executive Medical Director Chris Barben said "I am delighted to award the Clinical Team of the Year to the Emergency Department. Over the last couple of years they have faced enormous challenges in terms of demand, the extensive building work they've had to navigate and they've always responded with great enthusiasm and an appetite to make improvements. This award is extremely well deserved: thank you to our Emergency Department team."
More than 400 nominations were received for the Celebrating Success 2024 overall. The ceremony was watched online by thousands of colleagues, family and members of the public.
