Holly Andersen - Learner of the Year.jpgTrust colleague Holly Andersen is no stranger to awards and despite being ‘the face of apprentices’ for a local University, still finds time to mentor others.

It was this passion that meant Holly, an Apprentice Physiotherapist, received numerous nominations before winning the 2024 Celebrating Success ‘Learner of the Year’ award, part of the Trust’s annual staff recognition event held earlier this year.

The Celebrating Success judges were looking for a winner where their learning has made a tangible difference to quality of service and patient care.

Receiving her award recently from the Trust’s Executive Director of People and Culture, Katy Coope, Holly reflected on her appetite for learning, explaining that: “I just find my work fascinating and love what I do, especially the fact that it helps people to live a better life.”

Previously, high-achiever Holly also become Salford University’s AHP Apprentice of the Year, beating 500 other candidates to take the title. She went on to become ‘the face of Salford apprentices’, whilst still finding time to mentor first-year apprentices for exam preparation, showing her willingness to contribute to others’ learning.

Acclaimed by her colleagues and patients alike, even Holly’s mentor commented that her assignments are currently being used as model answers for the first-year apprentices.

More than 400 nominations were received for Celebrating Success 2024 overall. The ceremony was watched online by thousands of colleagues, family and members of the public. Watch Holly receiving her award
