Holly Andersen 18 Feb 2025 Above and Beyond award.jpgBlackpool Teaching Hospitals Senior Technical Instructor and Physiotherapy Apprentice, Holly Andersen is celebrating after winning Salford University’s ‘Apprentice of the year – above and beyond 2025’ award, having been shortlisted for the second year running.

Holly was the only BTH candidate this year and was chosen from thousands of nominations, across all apprentices who are studying at Salford University.

The judges said: “Holly has consistently exceeded all expectations, her outstanding clinical skills and commitment to patient care and achievements, such as identifying a life-threatening condition, creating an award-winning rehabilitation programme and mentoring student physiotherapy students demonstrate their dedication to innovation and excellence making them a deserving candidate for the above and beyond award.”

Holly said: “To hear that the nomination consisted of feedback from managers, university staff and patients was phenomenal! A really heart-warming moment for me! I’ve had times where I’ve felt the pressure however receiving recognition like this just solidifies how much it’s worth it.”

Holly’s latest success didn’t end there as she was also invited to give an interview for the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), talking about her experience as an apprentice. You can read the interview in the February issue of CSP’s Frontline magazine, where Holly talks about how working whilst learning has allowed her to have an impact on patients’ lives and care.
