Congratulations to Jackie Brunton, our Lead Nurse for End of Life and Bereavement Care, who graduated at a ceremony in London having completed a Florence Nightingale Foundation Leadership Development Scholarship.

The scholarships enable students to explore and discover their own leadership style and develop the essential skills to be a courageous leader.

Jackie said: “It was an honour to be accepted on to the programme and I’m so proud to be a Florence Nightingale Scholar.

“It is a privilege not only for my personal development opportunities I have received in mentorship from inspirational leaders but also the relationships I have developed with the most amazing fellow nurses and midwives on the programme.”

Jackie encouraged colleagues to take part: “I thank the support of my leads who encouraged and supported me to apply and for me it has enabled me precious time to keep striving to be the best I can be for our patients and their families.

“My award was presented to me by Chief Nurse for Wales Sue Tranka and Prof Greta Westwood, who is chief executive of Florence Nightingale Foundation and I had the opportunity to meet Ruth May who is the Chief Nursing Officer for England.

“These amazing leaders were so personable and very supportive and aware of the challenges we all face. They reminded us of that pride we have in our profession and how we can all influence and support each other and our future nurses and midwives.

“I would encourage people consider the programmes and discuss with your line manager and I would be happy to chat to through with anyone interested in learning more about the programme.”
