She was presented with the award from Prof Dame Sue Hill, Chief Scientific Officer for NHS England.

Angelic, who is BTH's Cardiac Investigation Unit Manager reflected "It was the first time the awards have been held and it was a really positive day, showcasing innovation across all disciplines. The Healthcare Science workforce delivers 80% of diagnostics across the NHS and perhaps doesn't always get recognised for its contribution. “Working in the NHS and in the diagnostic specialisms, we do amazing things every day and I think we sometime forget, so the meeting was an wonderful way to see the incredible innovations and work being done in the NW, and celebrating those achievements”.

“The wonderful thing with a physiologist career is that you never stop learning, as our work is technology driven and constantly develops. Our role is to adapt to deliver more diagnostic and treatments to our patients, which is incredibly rewarding and engaging. My specialist area is implantable devices, of which pacemakers are unrecognisable from when I started my career, as we have leadless options and implanted defibrillators, that are also monitored remotely. I am passionate about a digital future and being able to share our data and information more widely across our system, so that our patients get quicker and high-quality care. The imaging network has been very successful at this and we should follow in their footsteps so our reports and images are easily accessible.”

With over 38 years' service under her belt, Angelic plans to retire, next year on her 40 year anniversary. She says “I am incredibly proud of my team at Blackpool and also of the wider physiology teams across L&SC.”
