The experience of inpatients attending Blackpool Teaching Hospitals has been highlighted in a national survey published recently by the Care Quality Commission.
The independent survey asked more than 60,000 people across 131 NHS Trusts a range of questions about their experiences. These questions took in the patient journey through hospital, from admission to experience on wards to leaving hospital.
In total, 456 people responded from Blackpool Teaching Hospitals, between January and April of this year. Their responses were converted into scores, with the best being 10 out of 10.
In ten of the 11 categories, Blackpool Teaching Hospitals was rated as being on par with other Trusts in the country, with just one – which asked questions about doctors at the Trust - rated as lower than its peers.
Compared to last year’s survey, figures were broadly in line and in the ‘Overall experience’ category, the Trust has seen its feedback score increase from 8.2 to 8.3 out of 10, with respondents feeling they overall had a very good experience.
Other highlights included a score of 9.1/10 for inpatients who felt they had been treated with Kindness and Compassion and 9.2/10 for Respect and Dignity.
The full results of the survey are available on the CQC website here. Anyone who would like to contact the Trust to leave their own feedback including a compliment or concern can contact the Patient Experience team via the website here.
