We are pleased to announce that our Quality Improvement (QI) Team has successfully published their first journal article in BMJ Open Quality. This significant achievement is a testament to the team's dedication to advancing patient care through rigorous improvement methodologies.
The article, titled "Formative qualitative evaluation of an improvement programme delivered in an English hospital Trust to reduce harm from pressure ulcers", presents a comprehensive evaluation of our Trust's initiative to minimize pressure ulcer-related harm. The QI programme, which involved teams from both acute and community settings, utilized the Institute of Healthcare Improvement’s Breakthrough Series collaborative model. This approach has led to a sustained reduction in pressure ulcers, showcasing the tangible benefits of our improvement efforts.
BMJ Open Quality is a leading peer-reviewed journal focused on healthcare improvement, making it the ideal platform to share our work with a global audience. The publication of this article not only highlights the impact of our programme but also underscores our commitment to continuous learning and sharing best practices.
Anna Dallow, Quality improvement programme manager at BTH, commented: “This publication is a milestone that reflects our commitment to patient safety. The strategies we developed and implemented have now been disseminated across the organisation, ensuring that all patients benefit from improved care standards."
We congratulate the entire team on this remarkable accomplishment.
Thank you to author Anna Dallow, co-authors Parya Rostami, Katharine Goldthorpe, Pete Murphy and Denham Phipps for sharing this great work.
