Yesterday several siblings visited a Santa's grotto at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals Neonatal unit. The unit who organise the event every year like to make sure the whole family are included in their festive celebrations.

Neonate Matron, Julie Kearney commented, “Visiting a baby brother or sister in hospital can be as hard for older siblings as for the parents. Hospital can be a scary place for children so throughout the year we hold special events to include them.”

Santa's Grotto.jpgCharlotte and Ryan Holmes, who’s baby Nellie has been on the unit for 12 days said, “it is brilliant for us, we don’t know if we will be home for Christmas and of course we can’t take Nellie to one in a shopping centre with her two brothers and sister so this is perfect for us! We will remember it forever”

The unit also enjoyed some an afternoon of music when they were visited by a choir who sang some Christmas opera.

Special thank you to Julie’s friends Kev and Vanessa who kindly donated towards gifts
