A trio of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals community nurses have become part of a select group to hold the title of Queen’s Nurse.

Faye - Queens nurse award.jpgFaye Burke, Karen Clark and Joy Sutcliffe, who between them have more than 70 years’ combined experience in community nursing, have been awarded the title by community nursing charity The Queen’s Nursing Institute. Less than 1% of the UK’s registered nurses currently hold this title.

Faye Burke, Team leader of the South Shore Neighbourhood Team, commented, “It is an honour to receive the Queens Nurse Award. I am looking forward to meeting and learning from the network of Queen’s Nurses and sharing knowledge and excellent practice with my colleagues across Blackpool/Wyre and Fylde”

Karen - Queens nurse title.jpgKaren Clark, Clinical Nurse Specialist Central Locality for Sexual Health Services added, “Becoming a Queen’s Nurse is a prestigious achievement in the nursing profession, indicating a high level of dedication, skill, and commitment to providing excellent community-based care. This title carries with it the responsibility to promote best practices and make a significant impact on healthcare delivery in communities.

“As I reflect on receiving this award I feel very privileged and extremely proud of my dedication to the nursing profession over the last 40 years.“

Joy - Queens nurse award.jpgJoy Sutcliffe, Assistant Divisional Director of Nursing and Therapies said she feels honoured and proud to be a part of the network,

“My passion is to deliver outstanding care in the community to the practice population of the Fylde coast. I feel proud to be a part of a network that champions outstanding care in communities and ongoing professional development.

“It is also a privilege to represent and shine a light on all the amazing work we do in the community here in the Fylde Coast to a national network. I can’t wait to continue to bring back ideas and innovations from the network to the Fylde Coast to continually improve the services we provide.”
