Congratulations to two teams who are finalists in this year’s Unsung Hero Awards, the national honours for non-medical and non-clinical staff and volunteers.

The Filing and Archiving Team was shortlisted for the admin and clerical award while the Digital Identity Team is up for the IT and digital award.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals is recognised as a pioneer in managing digital identity by the NHS. The team is developing a blueprint for other organisations to adopt our approach to managing systems access for on-boarding new colleagues, to role changes and managing leavers while maintaining security and minimising barriers to patient care.

Filing and Archiving provides a collection and delivery service for thousands of case notes to our hospitals and community services each day. In the past year, they have also made efficiencies relocating the case note library to a new “File Factory”, consolidated community storage and removed closed documents to off-site locations.

The awards will be held in Manchester on Friday 15 March.
