What we have found today
We are concerned that your child has swallowed a button battery.
We have taken an X-ray which shows that the button battery is currently inside your child’s
abdomen (stomach area).
We know that in most cases like this, the button battery will cause no harm to your child, and pass through your child’s intestines naturally and come out with their poo.
In a very small number of children this does not happen. In this small number, there is
a risk that the button battery may become lodged and if this happens it can cause
damage to your child’s lower bowel and other internal organs.
