The Library and Membership

Yes, as a label that can be fixed to the back of your trust ID badge 

Cleaning wipes, masks, and hand sanitizer are available throughout the library.

By signing up to the library you can be granted 24hour access using your Trust ID Badge which you will need to scan on the library door touch pad. To register for 24 hour please use this Library registration form https://forms.office.com/r/WkCBmakaed 

The Library at Blackpool Victoria Hospital is located in the education centre next to Home 15. 

The Library is open to members 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Library staff are available between 8:30am and 4pm Monday-Friday

You will need your own username and password from the IT Department to access the computers in the Library

You can borrow up to 10 books at a time

Yes, by using the self-service machine. You will need your library membership number or library card 

Book loans are for four weeks. You can renew books a maximum of three times, as long as they haven't been reserved by someone else.

There is a Book Return box next to the self-service machine where you can return books 

We charge an overdue fee of 10p a day over the initial return date. If the book is lost, we will be in contact about costing for a replacement book.

The Library collection covers a range of topics including medicine, nursing, allied health, study and research skills, management and leadership, health and wellbeing.  There is also a collection of fiction books.

If there is a specific book that you require you can request that we borrow a copy from another Library by filling in the online form

Yes we do have both adult and paediatric ILS books. You must be a library member to take them out and be within 2 weeks of your course date.

Online Resources

The best way to find and access our resources is via the Knowledge and Library Hub.  Sign in with your OpenAthens account to search for eJournals and eBooks, and follow the links to databases and other resources. 

If you require a copy of a specific article please complete the online request form

Facilities

Yes, we have a colour printer which has scanning and photocopying functionality. Printing is only for work purposes.

Yes, a telephone is present on the left-hand side of the main library door. 

The room booking system can be used to book the library IT room and we have three study pods available to be used on a first come first served basis (the study pods are only bookable under certain special circumstances, please speak to a member of the Library team)
