Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is a is a specialist mental health team that sits within Options4CYP mental health services within Blackpool.
The team is made up of a variety of professionals from a range of disciplines including child and adolescent psychiatrists, mental health and paediatric nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists, counsellors, support staff and an admin team.
The main role of the CAMHS team is to offer comprehensive specialist mental health assessments and interventions for children and young people under the age of 18 with complex and moderate to severe mental health concerns that cannot be supported by another youth mental health service.
The CAMHS team offer a range of evidenced based one-to-one and group therapeutic interventions such as high intensitity Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Family Systemic Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT-A) and psychology.
We also have access to consultants who can offer specialist psychiatric assessments and prescribe medication where required.

To make a self-referral to one of our Options4CYP services, children, young people or their parent/carers use our online form.
- A self-referral will not be accepted for concerns relating to inattention, focus/concentration, hyperactivity or impulsiveness due to additional documentation which is required at the point of referral. Please discuss these concerns with the child or young person’s school/education setting – staff in education will collaborate with you and other colleagues, such as SEND, Primary Mental Health Workers (PMHWs), to complete a referral, where needed.

Referrals into Blackpool CAMHS are via our Single Point of Access and screened by the multi-professional team. If a referral is deemed not appropriate for CAMHS, we will always offer an alternative service to meet the needs of the young person.
