Laboratory tests are among the most important aspects of modern medicine. More than 70% of diagnoses in the NHS involve pathology, making it an essential part of healthcare.
Medical professionals rely on the test results to help diagnose a wide range of conditions and to help monitor the response to treatment. Pathology also plays an important role in identifying the sources of disease and reducing the possible risks of further spread.
We aim to provide a timely, high quality, cost-effective and responsive pathology service which meets the needs of healthcare professionals and their patients. Our pathology service receives around 1.7 million pathology samples each year and serves Blackpool, Fylde, Wyre and the surrounding area.
The Pathology reception, mortuary and phlebotomy outpatients departments are on the ground floor of the Pathology department at the opposite end of the corridor to the main entrance.
Externally, we are next to the Breast Care Centre on East Park Drive. Our opening times are Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 4.30pm.
