Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy based on the idea that thoughts, feelings, our actions and how we feel physically are all connected. And that if we change one of these areas, it will have corresponding influences in all the other areas.
When we are struggling emotionally we can often engage or fall into patterns of thinking or behaviours which can have an unhelpful effect on how we feel. CBT helps us notice these unhelpful thoughts or behaviours so that we prevent them and engage in more helpful responses so that we can feel better.
CBT is a collaborative therapy, it is not something that can be received passively. It is a way of working together with your therapist to achieve goals you feel are important to yourself that will help feel better.
We offer remote appointments via webcam or telephone. We also offer face to face appointments across a number of locations throughout Blackpool/Cleveleys area.
When you have your welcome call with us, you can discuss any appointment preference you may have with your practitioner, the most clinically appropriate and safe option will be offered taking into account your preference. However please be aware that not all types of talking therapies are delivered in all our locations.
Most appointments last for 60 minutes, however for some treatment programmes, 90 minute sessions may be offered.
